Duck Stamp

The subject of this creation was to draw a picture that could be used for a duck stamp. The setting of this drawing in a king elder in his natural habitat; so the wet lands. This work was made with a lot of layering. It took a long time to make the water a somewhat solid color. I used color pencil, and graphite for this project. I chose to create this specific drawing because when I was looking up what kind of duck I wanted to draw, the king elder really stuck out to me. I like his body shape, and colors; especially the red green and yellow on his head. Some elements and principals I used throughout this drawing were shading, and layering. This work is composed so th king elder is in his natural habitat.

Some competition rules and techniques I used were sizing. I wanted to make sure everything was the actuate size, and nothing looked out of place or funny. This project evolved slowly, but drastically. It first stated with the outlines of the ducks, then I added color to them. After that I drew the reeds in the water, and the water. The final step with the grass and patch of land in the back. The patch of land came out nice, but I wish a could have got a more muddy kind of swampy color in the top left, but that didn't workout, but overall I am happy with how this piece turned out.
