Artist Statement: The subject of this project was to create 3 spheres. One about man made things, the second about natural/ nature, and the last being scratched into the sphere. For the natural sphere I was going to engrave waves around the sphere and make a palm tree and put it onto the top of it. For the man-made sphere, I was going to make a bridge going around the top of it and for the last sphere i was going to engrave an 'x' around the whole thing. these spheres were made by using the pinch pot technique. i made a total of 6 pots and scratch and slipped 2 of them together in order to create the sphere and then i smoothed it out.
I completely changed the subjects of my spheres. instead of using the waves and a palm tree, i made a pig because my little sister loves pigs and i didn't know how to make a palm tree out of clay. i made a brick wall instead of a bridge because i couldn't think of how to get the bridge to stand up on its own. and while trying to think of a new idea, it felt like i was staring at a brick wall so i made a brick wall. as for the x, i forgot i was doing that and made a swirl design.
the pig is the piece that i am most proud of because i worked the hardest on it so i could give it to my sister, the others i don't feel like i put enough time and effort into. i struggled with coming up with ideas to make and i overcame that my having my friends help me and do the obvious.
