Ceramics 1

Final Reflection:

  1. Of which in-class project (Pinch Pots, Coil Pot, Soft Slab Construction, or Artist Inspired Project) are you the most proud? Why? Please explain and be specific. What did you learn from doing this project?

I am most proud of the pig i made during our first project; spheres. i liked that specific one because i like how the ears and nose turned out. I also put more time into this sphere than the other two because i knew i was going to give it to my little sister. i thought it was very minimal and cute. i learned a basic technique during project. we learned how to create pinch pots and turn them into spheres.

2.How has taking this class changed the way you think about ceramics? This could include your own art-making, how you appreciate art, and/or how you might look differently at art in the world around you.

taking this class has made me realize that ceramics isn't that hard. i always thought it would be really tough to create a lot of pieces. but if you have a creative mind and time it doesn't seem hard. i would say i don't have a very creative mind and i felt like i didn't have a lot of time to work on it so i felt that i struggled on it a little bit. i also learned that since i don't have a very creative mind, it's hard for me to find inspiration for my projects.

3. What recommendations would you make for ways that the class could be improved (please don’t worry about hurting my feelings- artists learn from, and expect, constructive criticism).

one thing you should do differently is give an extra class period to work on things or a class to catch up on any missed or unfinished assignments because there was a few times where i had to come in during advisory or rush because i didn't have enough time to finish it in class.
