Historial Coil Project

Artist Statement: in this project, we were asked to find a historical pot on Applied Arts and create a pot that looked similar to it. i chose a pot that was made in china and made around the 1400s. startuing the project, i had a base which was a slab of clay carved into a circle. then i made coild to score and lip together. after i smoothed the inside and outside and added handles. one it was fired, i glazed the pot with sm-21 which is dark blue. i had troubles with keeping the pot upright. at times it would cave in on one side or it wouldlnt be round enough. if i could redo this project, i would make the handles more even with each other. i didn't finish the pot in time so i had to do it quickly in the beginning of class.
