Candy Still Life

The subject of my drawing is a kitKat, a lindor truffle, and a mint on a blank background. I used charcoal, ink wash and graphite to create my drawing. I made a rough sketch with the graphite, then went over that with charcoal; then blended the charcoal with ink wash. I chose to draw the kitKat on top of the truffle and the mint because I thought it would create interesting shadows. I shaded with the charcoal and put ink wash over it to show the varying shades of shadows. My project evolved because at first I wanted to show shadows using only charcoal, but then I decided to use the ink wash to blend the charcoal so it looked more realistic. Something that could be stronger in this artwork is I could have spent more time drawing all the creases in the candy wrappers.
