Year 10 Program Overview
In Year 9, you are able to start focusing your program on what you would like to do more of. With the wide range of electives you have tried, hopefully you have a better sense of the types of subjects that align with your interests and strengths. In Year 10, you will be able to further focus your learning while still covering all the mandatory subject areas.
All Year 10 students complete subjects that fall into four categories.
Full Year Core Curriculum - all students do English and Maths for the entire year.
Half Year Core Curriculum - all students do one semester each of Health, Science and History.
Year 10 Electives - a wide range of one semester elective subjects can be selected from across seven learning areas.
Year 11 Electives as Acceleration - students can apply to complete a Year 11 subject (full year) as a Year 10 student to get a headstart on their senior years pathway (see Apply to Accelerate page for more information)
Throughout Year 10, students will participate in a variety of careers education activities to start to develop their plan for what their senior school pathway will be. However, if you already have a good idea about what you might want to do after finishing Year 12, then use that as guide when choosing your electives for next year.
Elective Selection Process (for Year 10)
Information provided via Course Counselling Assembly and Family Webinar on Monday 25th August at 5.30pm.
Students and families look at elective options and seek out advice if needed from subject teachers, Achievement & Pathways Leader, Careers Coordinator or House Leader.
Students submit their subject preferences (five preferences and four reserves) by Friday 5th September.
Students receive their electives list as part of the Year 10 Fee Schedule and booklist in Term 4.
