A great way to challenge yourself if you're finding subjects at your age-expected level a little easy.
To achieve the VCE or VCE-VM certificate you must have a minimum of 16 units across Units 1 - 4.
Accelerating gives you the opportunity to achieve units prior to beginning Year 11 and gives you a headstart on accumulating unit scores.
Accelerating allows you to potentially complete a Unit 3/4 subject during Year 11, which will give you more unit scores to contribute towards your final ATAR and improve your result.
Accelerating in a VET will put you on track to complete two VET courses by the end of Year 12 (if you choose the VM pathway), or 5 VCE subjects plus 1 VET by the end of Year 12.
*9B students have the opportunity to apply to accelerate in two, Unit 1/2 subjects in Year 10.
You must complete the Application to Continue Acceleration form. It is important that you get a recommendation from your current Unit 1/2 teacher. Your House Leader and a parent/guardian must also complete it before your application will be considered.
You must collect an Application to Continue Acceleration form from the Senior School Office.
You must complete and submit the form by Wednesday 30th July 2025.
We assess your application against your Semester 1 results and attendance to determine whether continuing to accelerate is the best option for you.
We communicate our recommendation to you. If your application is not approved, then your course counsellor will assist you to select an appropriate alternative subject.
