Red Lion Area Senior High School is committed to ensuring that all students achieve proficiency in the standards outlined by both the Red Lion curriculum and the state of Pennsylvania. To support this goal, we have established a variety of remediation programs. Students are selected for these programs by administration and a comprehensive school-based team that evaluates multiple data sets—including Keystones, CDTs, and Firefly assessments—as well as other relevant criteria. Please note that remediation courses take priority over electives, study halls, early release, and late arrival. Credit will be rewarded for successful completion of the program.
Lions Learning Center (LLC)
The Lions Learning Center is designed to help students develop the skills necessary for success in the classroom. The program places a strong emphasis on executive function skills, including time management, organization, planning, and prioritizing. Through individualized support and structured strategies, students learn to manage assignments, stay on task, and approach academic challenges with confidence. The Lions Learning Center provides a supportive environment where students can build these essential skills, fostering both academic growth and long-term success.
Standards Remediation
Standards Remediation is designed for students who demonstrate a gap in learning within their regular classroom, as identified through CDT data, Firefly data, and other relevant assessments. The purpose of this course is to provide targeted, individualized instruction that helps students strengthen foundational skills and close identified learning gaps. Instruction is customized to each student’s specific needs, incorporating direct support, reteaching, guided practice, and ongoing progress monitoring. Throughout the course, students will engage with materials and activities aligned to Pennsylvania standards, building both skills and confidence to succeed. A Pass/Fail grade will be assigned to award credit.
Keystone Remediation
Keystone Remediation is designed for students who did not achieve proficiency on a Keystone Exam. The purpose of this course is to provide targeted, individualized instruction that helps students strengthen foundational skills and deepen their understanding of key concepts. Instruction is tailored to each student’s specific areas of need, using a combination of direct support, reteaching, practice opportunities, and progress monitoring. At the conclusion of the remediation course, students will retake the applicable Keystone Exam(s) with the goal of demonstrating proficiency. A Pass/Fail grade will be assigned to award credit.
