Pennsylvania Graduation Requirements
In 2018, Act 158 was signed into law by the governor, outlining state graduation requirements that go into effect for students in the Class of 2023 and beyond. To graduate from high school, students must meet all local graduation requirements related to credits and coursework along with the state requirements outlined in Act 158.
Students will take the Keystone Exams for Algebra I, English II, and Biology as required by Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) as one of the options to meet graduation requirements.
Red Lion Area Senior High School administers Keystone Exams during both the Spring and Winter testing windows. Students who do not achieve proficiency on a Keystone Exam may, at the discretion of administration, be required to retake the exam during the next testing cycle or be enrolled in Keystone Remediation prior to retesting. The specific score range for mandatory retake eligibility is determined annually by the school administration based on the most current data analysis and state guidance. Keystone Remediation takes priority over electives, study halls, early release, and late arrival to ensure students receive the support they need. Please note that each student’s highest Keystone scores are recorded on their RLASH transcript.
Alternate pathways to meeting the statewide graduation requirement were developed by PDE.
Those pathways are:
Keystone Proficiency Pathway
Keystone Composite Pathway
Alternative Assessment Pathway
Evidence Based Pathway
Career & Technical Education Pathway
