Red Lion Area Senior High School
Cooperative Education Programs
Internship Program
What is an internship?
Internships are open to students in all grade levels (depending on placement) interested in earning school credit while spending a minimum of 5 hours per week at an unpaid career placement site for a semester (½ credit). Internship semesters may be repeated to explore new placement sites or to continue learning experiences at an established site, if approved.
How do I qualify for an internship?
Students must be in good academic, attendance, and disciplinary standing. Transportation to and from placement sites must be arranged by the student. Job shadowing and participation in an affiliated YCAL program/s through our Career Center is strongly recommended prior to an internship placement. Specific contact information researched by the student to a partnering business is also encouraged.
What will I gain?
The goal of the internship program is for students to partner with a business or professional in our community to gain career experience prior to leaving high school. Internships provide students with opportunities to work alongside their placement site’s direct supervisor and staff in a real-world setting. Upon successful completion, students will earn a semester elective ½ credit and will also satisfy one of the elective criteria of the graduation project.
How do I apply?
Discuss your future goals and interests with your school counselor and parent/guardian to be sure you are eligible and qualify for the internship program. Obtain a formal application from your school counselor, Mrs. Sarah Warner the Co-op and Internship Coordinator, or scan the QR code below. This application should be completed and returned during the school YEAR PRIOR to scheduling your internship.
