Students Crowding Around the Bus
George Washington Middle School students are annoyed that kids are pushing to get onto the bus.
The bus, also known as the New Jersey Transit, arrives at school at 3 pm. There are two buses and they get crowded after school because kids are trying to get on at the same time.
Kevin Mccabe, a 7th grade Monroe student, takes the bus everyday after school to get home. “I feel fine getting on the bus but kids are pushing each other.”
He goes on to say that he was annoyed that the school failed to put a stop to kids pushing. Earlier this year the school attempted to put a stop to the pushing by putting kids in a line for the bus and having Mr. Monahan monitor the line. This change lasted for a few weeks until the school stopped it.
Administrators declined to comment on the topic.
Max Park, another 7th grader from Monroe that takes the bus says, “It was kinda in order for a little bit but now it’s a mosh pit trying to get onto the bus.”
Max goes on to say that he thinks the situation is not ideal however he doubts any new school policy will help the issue due to their previous attempt not working out.
Ilhan Rasheed, a 7th grade Godwin student states, “People pushing on the bus affects me because I take the bus every day, and it is annoying when everyone crowds around the door and starts shoving each other. I got squished and shoved around.”
He thinks getting on the bus can be dangerous at times because of the pushing.
GWMS students that take the bus are unhappy about pushing while getting on the bus, but currently they don’t think change will come anytime soon.
