Mrs. Feit, the 6th grade Godwin science teacher in George Washington Middle School, is retiring at the end of the 2023 school year.
Teachers in GWMS have been teaching and managing the school for a long time. After a while, some teachers decide to retire from their jobs and leave the school to pursue other passions or to take a rest from their work.
Mrs. Feit, the Godwin sixth grade science teacher who is retiring states, “I can spend more time with my husband and my family and travel.” For around 29 years, Mrs. Feit has been working at this school and started to think about retiring in September of 2022. She made her decision in March of 2023 to retire and pursue her hobbies.
Students and staff of GWMS say they are going to miss Mrs. Feit when she retires and that they will say their goodbyes.
Mr. Monahan, the George Washington Assistant Principal says, “She will be missed tremendously. She is one of the most decorated and accomplished teachers in the history of George Washington Middle School. Our science program will miss her dearly. So I’m sad that she is going to be leaving. ” Mr. Monahan will keep in contact with her to see how she is doing after she retires.
With Mrs. Feit retiring, it is unknown what will happen to the Green Team Club which is a club currently run by her.
Quincy Harper, a Godwin seventh grader who has had Mrs. Feit in 6th grade says, “Also she’s in charge of the Green Team Club, which even though I’m not in it, I feel like it’ll make a big difference to those who are like in the Green Team Club.” It is currently unknown if anyone will be in charge of the club or if the club will have to shut down after Mrs. Feit retires.
Mrs. Feit will be retiring after this school year ends but it is not known who will take her spot as the new science teacher for 6th grade Godwin.
