Recess Kickball League
Students from George Washington Middle School are joining the newly founded Recess Kickball League.
The Recess Kickball League otherwise known as the RKL is a league where students have the opportunity to play kickball games with a certain team on the GWMS field.
Colin Montone, one of the owners of the RKL says, “So far the league hasn’t been doing too well, and while a lot of people want to play, it makes it hard since we can only play one game a day causing teams to only play once a week. It is also hard to organize because a couple of the other owners aren’t motivated to keep the league going”.
Brady Killeen, a member of Number Juan says, "I enjoy playing in the kickball league because it is something new and because it has a teamwork aspect in it which I am used to. While we may not be able to play that much, I can do other things on the days we aren’t playing. Overall I think that the league is doing a good job making it fun”.
The RKL has a certain schedule to follow where games are listed on their site. Following this schedule causes games to be delayed making teams miss out on their opportunity to play.
Max Park, a member of the K-Town Bombers says, The RKL management is lacking. Just recently a game got delayed due to roster problems and my team didn’t even get to play, pushing the game farther than it should be.”
Max also states that the owner’s team is very biased towards themselves, ranking and scheduling-wise.
The Recess Kickball League has only been in GW for a few weeks. Colin Montone states that in the future when they are able to build a sustainable league they will run it with full effort.
