K-12 Library Learning Commons Mission Statement
The mission statement of Ridgefield Public Schools Library Learning Commons is to support student success in a collaborative environment that invites and ignites learning and enhances digital and informational skills and experiences that foster creativity, critical thinking, innovation, and experimentation in a safe, ethical, and responsible manner.
By the end of Grade 8, students will be able to:
apply copyright, fair use, and media literacy principles while innovating, creating, and making personalized and relevant global connections.
utilize the online catalog to access, review, and place holds on titles of academic and personal interest and will independently locate materials of interest.
independently and collaboratively generate and revise relevant and challenging questions, locate, evaluate, and determine reliable print and digital sources for independent inquiry and reading pleasure.
apply design thinking and engineering design concepts to discovery, creation, and problem-solving.
independently and collaboratively navigate, organize, create, and publish works of personal interest utilizing student choice of materials and digital and non-digital resources.
Synthesize information, create new knowledge, and independently and comprehensively utilize citation tools to communicate findings using print and digital resources.
