6-12 English Language Arts Vision

The English Language Arts Department believes in providing every student with a rigorous and engaging curriculum, designed to support students’ work toward mastery of CT state standards.  Students develop their reading, writing, communication, research, and critical thinking skills to prepare them for the demands of the 21st century. 

Throughout grades 6-12, students’ reading and writing experiences allow them to demonstrate increased independence, work collaboratively, develop an understanding of other cultures and perspectives, respond to varying demands of audience, purpose, and genre, and use media and technology responsibly, effectively, and strategically. Our English Language Arts program encourages students to be empathetic, reflective, and thoughtful citizens ready to engage with local, national, and global communities.
