Application Instructions

In order to obtain your certificate, you are required to apply and pay for your certificate by following these steps:

Log into your TEAL account.
Follow the directions found here to complete the application for a standard certificate.

All Residents: Select Relay Graduate School of Education ACP (University Based) as your recommending entity.

All TFA Corps members: Select Relay Graduate School of Education ACP (Alternative) as your recommending entity.

Pay the application fee within 48 hours.

Once your application is in the system, Relay will verify completion of all program requirements, and issue an institutional recommendation. To avoid delays, make sure to submit your documentation of certification requirements to My Checklist as you complete them. You will receive an e-mail confirming when Relay recommends your certificate. Once the recommendation has been issued and the fingerprinting process is complete, the teaching certificate should issue immediately. You should log into your ECOS for Educators account and confirm that your certificate issues after you have received Relay’s recommendation.

Relay GSE will monitor certificate status and will provide support to candidates with fingerprinting issues. However, the ultimate responsibility for following through with the certificate application, fingerprinting, and certificate confirmation process lies with the candidate. Failure to meet deadlines for the application, payment of fees, or fingerprinting may put a candidate’s certification and employment at risk.

FAQs

What is Relay's process for verifying completion of all program requirements?

Throughout the program, Relay monitors your completion and documentation of the requirements. Before issuing the recommendation, the Relay Texas Certification Office reviews your file one last time to ensure all documentation has been submitted and approved. To avoid delays, make sure to submit your documentation as soon as you have it. We will be reviewing files and recommending certificates on a rolling basis beginning after the last day of school. The final deadline for submitting documentation is July 15.

What is the earliest I can receive my standard certificate?

In order to receive a recommendation for a standard certificate, all program requirements must be met. This includes completion of Relay coursework and completion of an internship that extends for the full school year.

Do I have to be fingerprinted again for the standard certificate?

No, as long as you have completed the TEA-approved fingerprinting process one time, you will not need to pay for or repeat the fingerprinting process. You can confirm your fingerprint status on your ECOS for Educators account. Fingerprint status should read "complete". If it does not, please e-mail support@relay.edu immediately for troubleshooting and next steps.
