Intern Candidates: In the spring, candidates in all certification categories will study for the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities EC-12 exam.
More information and resources for testing is provided here.
The Content, ESL, STR, and PPR fields on your progress report indicate whether you have passed the relevant exam based on the information we can access. The Score Report fields indicate whether you have uploaded your score report to your certification checklist. Even though we have some visibility into your test results, we still need the score reports in your file.
The initial certificate is the type of provisional certificate you obtained. This certificate determines how many observations are required and whether the certificate is renewable. Certificates are recommended by Relay, once all requirements are met. However, the TEA has to issue the certificate as the certifying body in Texas. The Initial Certificate Issued field in your progress report indicates whether TEA has issued your certificate. If this field is blank or indicates a no, please email support@relay.edu for next steps.
These six fields show your TEA-required certification workshop status. Each workshop differs in length and content. Relay recommends completing these throughout the year as time allows, rather than waiting until the end of the program. Completing 1-2 workshops each month would ensure you meet the requirements by the deadline.
Note: One year alt route candidates complete the workshops as pre-service, while residents complete them during the internship year.
Internship candidates on a probationary certificate are required to participate in 3 observation cycles throughout the year. Candidates on an intern certificate are required to participate in 5 observation cycles throughout the year.
If your progress report has a date listed for an observation field, the observation cycle was completed and you submitted all required documentation.
If your progress report does not have a date listed, you have not yet submitted the required documentation for that observation cycle. If you have already completed an observation cycle, please search for the appropriate documentation in your email inbox. To find it, search DocuSign. You will submit the signature page, the pre-observation conference form, and the post-observation conference form to your certification checklist (found on your Okta page). Please do not submit until the document reflects all four required signatures.
If you have trouble finding the appropriate documentation, please reach out to your field supervisor.
These fields are provided to help us ensure our records are accurate. Please complete this form to report errors.
Beginning/End Date of Assignment should reflect the first/last day of school with students.
This form is generated by Relay and sent for signature to your principal and field supervisor at the end of the school year. Once your principal and field supervisor sign, you will sign the form and receive a copy of the pdf from DocuSign. Once you have the completed copy, you will upload to your certification checklist.
This requirement includes the 150 hours that are required during pre-service. Candidates meet this requirement through their Relay coursework, field-based experiences, and certification workshops. Failed coursework may need to be retaken and passed to meet this requirement. If you find you are falling behind on Relay coursework, please reach out to your faculty advisor for support.
This field on your progress report indicates whether you have applied for your standard certificate. You should apply and pay for your certificate in May. Please read the instructions carefully before you apply. Errors in your application can lead to a delay in your certification and additional work for both you and Relay.
Complete instructions can be found here. If you have questions about the instructions, please email support@relay.edu before you apply.
