CO2022 One Year ACP Deadlines

Certification - TFA Cohort Checklist (CO 2022 Non-Residents)

• Upon Admission

  • Sign letter to accept formal admission into Relay Texas ACP (at orientation or via DocuSign)

• Due June 1, 2021

  • First attempt on Science of Teaching Reading Exam (if required for certification field)

  • First attempt on TExES Content Exam

• Due July 15, 2021

  • Review Certification Guide

  • Complete 30 Clock Hours of Field-Based Experience Log & Reflection

  • Complete Texas Educator's Code of Ethics

  • Passed TExES Content Exam

  • Passed English as a Second Language Supplemental Exam (if required by employer)

  • Passed Science of Teaching Reading Exam (if required for certification field)

  • Obtained a lead teaching position in assigned certification area

  • Internship Eligibility Form returned from district

  • Completed TEA-approved fingerprinting and pass TEA background check

  • Completed 150 clock hours of teacher training (included in coursework)

  • Applied for your Probationary/Intern Certificate on TEAL (TEA-Log-In) and confirm fingerprint clearance

    • If you have passed BOTH the Content Test and the PPR, apply for a Probationary Certificate.

    • If you have passed the Content Test, but NOT the PPR, apply for the Intern Certificate

    • Receive fingerprint clearance (This requirement is often satisfied by the fingerprinting requirements of your employer).

• Due January 15, 2022

  • Pass the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibility (PPR) test

  • Observations

    • Probationary Certificate: 2 of 3 observations completed by 01/15/2022

    • Intern Certificate: 3 of 5 observations completed by 01/15/2022

• Due June 30, 2022

  • Final deadline to pass the PPR test

  • Complete the Suicide Prevention Workshop

  • Complete the Substance Abuse Workshop

  • Complete the Mental & Emotional Health Workshop

  • Complete the Digital Literacy Workshop

  • Complete the Appropriate Student Relationships Workshop

  • Complete the Dyslexia Workshop

  • Pass a minimum of 300 clock-hours of coursework

  • Observations

    • Probationary Certificate: 3 of 3 observations completed

    • Intern Certificate: 5 of 5 observations completed

  • Successfully complete internship of one academic year as teacher of record

  • Secure recommendation of campus administrator and field supervisor

  • Apply for your standard certificate
