In order to obtain your certificate, you will be required to pass exams demonstrating your content and pedagogical knowledge. The table below shows which tests are required and optional for each certification category that Relay is approved to offer. For more details, visit the Pearson website.
Students must demonstrate readiness for each required certification exam by passing a practice test. There are several acceptable practice tests that we use at Relay, and each has a different threshold for “passing” to earn testing permission. All practice tests should be taken under conditions that are as close to real testing conditions as possible. This includes:
The testing permission process is required by the TEA and helps Relay maintain its accreditation status in addition to supporting candidates in using their testing time and money efficiently. For more information about testing permission, read the Relay Texas Guide to Testing Permission found at right.
What and Where to Submit: Once you have passed an approved practice test, upload your practice test score report to the appropriate assignment on My Checklist found on your Okta page. Once a passing practice test score has been uploaded, Relay will enter testing permission for you in the TEA's system, called ECOS. At that point, you will receive an e-mail with instructions for registering to take the official test.
