The spirit of AmeriCorps is making a difference through service. Relay members are connected to service opportunities in their communities to foster collaboration between programs, build relationships, and inspire a spirit of service now, and for life. Each member should attend one service event throughout the service year. Serving at an event and communicating participation to the Relay AmeriCorps Team is part of your role as a member.
There is no specific hours requirement. Most events are between 2-4 hours.
Service events refer to time given to the community in the form of voluntary, unpaid service. As Relay AmeriCorps members, this can be any event you find on your own or through our suggestions. It must be something that is outside of your school obligations. (For instance, attending a school parent night does not count if your school already requires you to be there).
Service Examples Include: park clean-ups, walking shelter dogs, sorting donations, assisting with a food drive, organizing a card or letter writing campaign, volunteering at a senior care facility, and more!
Most cities have a primary volunteer search engine to connect community members to service opportunities.
If you google volunteer or service event + your city, commonly used websites will pop up.
