2024 Excellence in AmeriCorps Awards: In September, AmeriCorps recognized four AmeriCorps members and two grantees for their excellence in service. Each year, AmeriCorps State and National recognizes programs and individuals for the Excellence in AmeriCorps Award that consistently supports its mission in the following categories: Impactful Service Award, Inclusive Service Award, Innovative Service Award and Lifetime of Service Award. Volunteerism on the Rise: AmeriCorps recently released the latest Volunteering and Civic Life in America research, a comprehensive look at how people make a difference in their communities and promote the common good. The research shows formal volunteering in America is rebounding. More than 75.7 million people – or 28.3 percent of Americans – formally volunteered through an organization in 2023, giving more than 4.99 billion hours of service with $167.2 billion of economic value! This podcast brings many voices to the table to discuss critical topics facing American communities and how service is part of the solution. America’s Field Trip Contest: America 250 launched the second installment of America’s Field Trip, a nationwide contest designed to actively engage America’s K-12 students in commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Students in grades 3- 12 can earn a chance to travel to explore one of America’s landmarks, like Yellowstone National Park, the living history at the Alamo, or the launch pads at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center by submitting artwork or essays to answer the prompt: What does America mean to you? Submissions are due on Wednesday, April 16, by 5 p.m. ET. Learn more here!
Interested in Public Administration? The Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania, is currently looking for highly motivated individuals who are interested in a Master of Public Administration beginning in Fall 2025. All AmeriCorps alumni admitted to a Fels Institute of Government program are guaranteed a scholarship of at least $15,000. The Martin Luther King, Jr., National Day of Service is a defining moment each year when Americans across the country take action to create the Beloved Community of Dr. King’s dream. MLK Day is a federal holiday and designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. This year, on January 20, we will celebrate 30 years of MLK Day of Service and its impact as more Americans embrace the idea that citizenship involves taking an active role in improving communities.

AmeriCorps Swag: Swag items for the 2024-25 service year will be shipped to your listed home address in the new year. Each member will receive exclusive Relay GSE AmeriCorps branded items, as AmeriCorps members are required to sport the “big A” while performing service.
AmeriCorps Midyear Upcoming Required Action Items: Need a refresher on what action items to expect throughout the year? Click here for the 2024-25 Year at a Glance. Just around the corner in mid-February, you can look out for information about AmeriCorps Midyear Action Items. Here’s what to expect:
1) Midterm Evaluation: will capture your midyear AmeriCorps progress. You will simply need to review and e-sign the evaluation (via DocuSign).
2) AmeriCorps-102 Student Roster Report: is part one of AmeriCorps data collection requirement. Complete it by reporting the number of PK-12 students you serve on a consistent basis (via direct link to your email). Relay is required to submit this data to the AmeriCorps federal agency each year.
