Students have begun learning to code with Micro:bits, small pocket-sized computers equipped with an LED display, buttons, and sensors. They first create their code on a computer, then connect the Micro:bit to run it. It’s been exciting to watch their programs come to life on these tiny devices!
Eighth graders have been learning about entrepreneurship by launching their own small business ventures to support class fundraising efforts. Working in teams, students researched products they could create and then got to work producing flowers, stickers, and 3D-printed items. They designed posters and are creating commercials to advertise their products, which will be sold at the Walk-a-thon on October 31.
Students made flashlights using popsicle sticks, LED lights, copper tape, and coin batteries. They made Halloween-themed characters of cardstock to attach to the end. Students used an aluminum foil reflector to have the LED light up their character.
