In our fourth-grade STREAM class, students are diving into the fascinating world of animal adaptations. After learning how animals evolve to survive in their environments, students were challenged to create an existing animal with new adaptations that would allow it to thrive in a completely different habitat.
Using Tinkercad, a 3D design platform, each student is creating a custom model of their adapted animal. Whether it's giving a desert lizard webbed feet to survive in a rain forest or equipping a polar bear with camouflage for the savanna, students are applying creativity, biology, and engineering principles to bring their ideas to life. This hands-on project encourages critical thinking, design skills, and a deeper understanding of how form meets function in nature.
Students designed a dollar with a currency amount of their choice in Canva. They added a picture of themselves and an animal they would want to be the mascot of their own country on the seal. Students added signatures and serial numbers to make their bills more realistic. The back of the bills contained an image of our church The Cathedral of St. Peter. Lastly, students were able to use filters and transparency to color their dollars.
