After studying the seasonal changes that cause leaves to change color, second grade students applied their learning by constructing fall wreaths using a variety of colorful leaves.
Our students recently visited a pumpkin patch! To build on this experience, they explored the life cycle of a pumpkin through research and hands-on learning. Each student created a lapbook to illustrate the stages of growth, then decorated their folders with their own creative pumpkin designs.
Second graders explored how plants and animals depend on one another for survival. After learning about plants that spread their seeds by exploding, students created a hands-on simulation by filling balloons with bird seed and popping them to observe seed dispersal. Watch the video here. They then used Tinkercad to design digital models that represented their findings.
Through a hands-on STEM project, students investigated the life cycle of a butterfly—from egg to caterpillar, chrysalis, and finally, butterfly. They brought their learning to life by building creative dioramas that showcased each stage of the metamorphosis.
Using KEVA planks and marbles, students brought physics to life by building their own roller coasters! They applied their knowledge of force and motion while problem-solving their way to make imaginative designs.
