Step 1: Change from the 'Design' environment to the 'Manufacture' environment.
Step 2: Click the Setup drop-down menu and select New Setup.
This opens a new window where you can set up the stock material.
Step 3: In the Setups window, click the Model Select button.
Choose the bodies you want to cut out, then click OK to confirm.
Step 4: In the Setups window, click the Orientation drop-down menu and select Z axis/plane & Y axis.
Next, click the Z axis on one of the bodies you want to cut, then click OK to confirm.
Step 5: Select the left corner of the top face of the stock—this is the point the CNC router recognises as the home position.
Click OK to confirm your choice.
Step 6: Navigate to 2D > 2D Contour.
This opens the 2D Contour configuration menu.
Step 7: In the new window, click Milling Tools - Metric.
Choose the 03mm (3mm Flat Endmill), then click Select to confirm.
Step 7.1 (Optional): If you have the Amada tool library installed, you can find tools using this method:
Click the Amada tool library.
Type the tool number (e.g., 48214-K) into the search bar.
Highlight the correct tool.
Click the blue Select button in the bottom-right corner.
Step 8: In the same contour window, click the Coolant drop-down menu and change it from Flood to Disabled.
Important: If you skip this step, the CNC code will fail because our router does not use a flood coolant system.
Step 9: In the same contour window, click the third tab (contour selection), then click the bottom-right edge of the box on your model, then click OK.
Step 10: In the same contour window, click the fifth tab (passes).
Enable Multiple Depths (check the box).
Change the Maximum Roughing Stepdown to 1mm.
Click OK.
Step 11: To check your progress, navigate to Actions > Simulate in the top menu. We will run the simulation in the next step.
Step 12: To check your progress, go to the top menu, click the Actions drop-down, and select Simulate. Just hit the play button to run the simulation and follow exactly what the CNC router will do.
Step 13: Select the 'Actions' drop-down menu > Select 'Post Process'.
This will open a new Post Process window.
Step 14: In the Post Process window, configure the following settings:
Post: GRBL / grbl
Name: CNC Cut
Output Folder: Select your Desktop or a USB thumb drive (e.g., D:/)
