ruth mandelbaum

I've been teaching in a variety of jobs, schools and grades since I was 23 years old. This included teaching in a public school in the arctic, 8 years of Waldorf schools and a few fun years at the Pacific Science Center. I worked for an alternative distance program in Alaska for several years while teaching my own two kids at home. I have fond memories of experiments at the kitchen table with everything from food to dry ice.

I enjoy natural science and all outdoor "ing's" including hiking, biking, paddle boarding, swimming. I have two amazing kids who have schooled at home, been to private and public schools. They grew up loving to learn, be outside, laugh, act and play games which they continue to do with their friends and family.

Teaching, good food, humor, poetry, music, reading and movement are my favorite things. I work hard to learn from mistakes and learn new technology. I am grateful to be part of such an amazing staff and to work with many beautiful families. It is so fun to meet PEARLS on field trips!
