A combined student choir from Queen of Peace, St. Joseph, and St. Peter performed Christmas songs at the Hamilton Christmas Tree Lighting on Saturday at Marcum Park. Thank you to all of those who participated! It was a fun experience.
Dear Families,
A big thank you to Mr. Sims for coming in recently to educate our 7th grade Qaleidoscopers on the stock market. Some students were disappointed to learn that Queen of Peace School is not a publicly traded company. (Although I never clarified if they were looking to buy or sell....).
Another massive thank you to our group of parishioners who came in for the first meeting of 5th grade Qaleidoscope Book Club. This is going to be a really fruitful collaboration that enriches our students' encounter with literature. Good stories take on sharper color and broader dimension when they are analyzed. On a related note, I more fully appreciate the epic quality of my McAlister's turkey sandwich after taking the time to reflect on it in last week's Viking Voice. I taste a life lesson in here somewhere...

Please allow me a bit more space on your crowded dinner plate for an extra serving gratitude.
I do not exaggerate when I say I am humbled by the giving spirit of our community. When we ask for donations (which we do often), I never have an expectation of what we will receive (even though evidence suggests it will be substantial). I always consider donor fatigue, the "one more thing" effect, the finite range of time and attention that parents have for things that go beyond keeping their household functional, etc. Maybe this is why I am awed every time we run a collection. Your gospel spirit by the numbers:
*We filled four large bins of coats for our Saint Vincent de Paul coat drive.
*We filled about 45 grocery bags of food items for the Thanksgiving drive. Yesterday, we were able to see the direct benefit to materially poor families as they came to Queen of Peace to pick up their Thanksgiving dinners.
*We collected over $600 last Thursday for the One Village organization of New Miami. This will help bring sports opportunities to the young kids of this community, where many families subsist below the poverty line and where the schools are under resourced.
*We have at least 30 pairs of donated shoes sitting in our school lobby. These will be given to Sneakers 4 Good at the Hamilton Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day.

Blue folders will be coming your way on Tuesday, 11/25 You will also find an insert in the folders about the season of Advent, which begins on Sunday, 11/30.
Also on Tuesday will be our inaugural Saint Parade, which we are pairing with a Jubilee Prayer Service for this Jubilee Year of 2025. You are invited! We will begin a little after 8:00 a.m. with a parade into the church, followed by the prayer service.
2025 is the Jubilee Holy Year, the 2,025th anniversary of the Incarnation of our Lord, an "event of great spiritual, ecclesial, and social significance in the life of the Church." The concept of "Jubilee" has its origins in the Book of Leviticus (chapter 25) as a special year of reconciliation, pilgrimage, and coming home. Pope Francis has designated the 2025 Holy Year as a time to renew ourselves as "Pilgrims of Hope." -United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB)
