Is each student required to be on the teams call, or can they have one device per family group?

For the house event, all students must attend on a personal device (iPad for K-6 or laptop for SS). Otherwise, you can share a device if you are going to the same event/activity.

Will the teachers be checking they are in “class” ie at the picnic/doing activities?

For students in Years 7-12, you must make a post in your Compass Team space between 11:45 and 12:30 sharing what activities you plan on doing (this is your period 4 attendance). At 1:30, you must join the house call and the attendance will be taken for Period 5.

Will the girls need to finish the day as they normally do in their connect or other class?

Secondary students will need to log into Student Leaders Assembly at 2.15pm.

Kindergarten to Year 6 students will work with your compass classes at 2:15pm - I'm sure your teacher and class mates will be keen to hear what you got up to and the yummy food you enjoyed.

Do I have to go outside and have a picnic?

No, you are able to picnic in your backyard or in your loungeroom and still engaging in the online activities.

Do I wear my school uniform or PE kit or House Shirt?

This is a house activity, so please wear your house shirt.

How do I prepare?

Food: organise a picnic lunch, cook something with your family, or buy local;

Extras: What's a picnic without a blanket? How about Finska, boules, Frisbee or your pet dog?

Share your picnic: ensure your mobile and other digital devices are fully charged and bring headphones or a bluetooth speaker if you are joining as a group. This will allow you to listen to the Picnic Playlist, post photos for the Picnic Padlet and also drop into the Picnic Pals meet up.

Mask up: If you are out with your family, remember COVID safety - check into locations, keep physically distant, wear masks, only be with your vaccinated family group of 5.
