There are two main ways to get your students started with using the Blockly app.
1) Puzzles: These are pre-made challenges that walk your students through short activities which teach them how to program the Dash in Blockly. The puzzles start off easy and progressively get harder, and students' progress is saved in their profile. The basic steps to get this started are:
Open the Blockly app, and press the "play" button.
Select your profile.
Click on Puzzles.
Click on the first Puzzle and follow the directions. When you complete it, more puzzles will unlock.
If the puzzles are too easy for your students, they can skip puzzles by follow these directions.
2) Create mode: This gives the students a blank canvas to program the Dash however they choose, and/or to complete a challenge that the teacher has physically set up in the room.
To skip challenges in the Blockly app, open the level you are on, then hold 4 fingers down on each side of the tablet as shown below and then release.
Name each Dash robot and label them with their name for easy classroom management.
Also label each iPad.
Create Class/group profiles in advance.
When working with students, assign each group a specific iPad, Dash robot, and Profile to save in.
Drive measurements are in centimeters.
