Workshop on Brain- Based Teaching Strategies

A workshop on Brain-based teaching strategies was organized in Pushpanjali College of Education. Mr Willibrord George an experienced educationist with expertise in the use of AI in education. Teachers from various schools in Vasai and Teacher Education Facutly attended the workshop. Mr. Willibrord had an energetic start to the session. It was interactive wherein he emphasized on the use of AI for classroom communication. He oriented the teachers on the use of MetaAI constructively for planning of teaching-learning activities. He interacted with the attendees of the workshop on various levels and encouraged active participation of both the teachers and students in the classroom. The workshop was an energetic and enriching experience for all the teachers.

Sessions on Orientation to Research  

A series of lectures was organized by the faculty members to orient and guide students towards Research in Education. Ms. Sonia Bombacha and Ms. Steffi Colaco conducted the sessions on 22nd and 23rd November 2024, covering important aspects such as different types of research, the steps involved in Action Research, review of related literature, and the use of digital repositories such as Shodhganga and Google Scholar. Faculty members also guided students in developing appropriate research tools and planning their Action Research projects. 

Action Research Conducted by the students across various school during internship 

As part of their curriculum, all students undertook Action Research on pertinent educational topics  in their respective internship groups across various schools and institutions, under the guidance and mentorship of faculty members. The research studies undertaken included:

• Dr. Sheetal Chaudhari guided students in conducting a study entitled “Study of Impact of Social Media on the Mental Health and Well-being of School Students.”

• Ms. Steffi Colaco mentored a group of students who conducted a study on “Awareness about Indian Knowledge Systems with Respect to Health: Knowledge of Indian Medicine, Yoga and Balanced Diet.”

• Ms. Sonia Bombacha guided students in conducting research on “Exploring the Ecological Footprint of Upper Primary Students in a Selected School in Vasai.”

• Ms. Sanika Asolkar guided students in conducting a study on “Creating Awareness Regarding Cyber Security among Students of a Selected Junior College.”

The research experiences enabled students to identify educational issues, collect and analyse data, and apply research processes to address concerns emerging from their internship settings.

Ms. Bliss Dsouza and Ms. Anciya Colaco represented college at the Annual Teresian Trove at Lourdes Convent High School, Surat on 23rd November 2024 with their teaching Aid on Environmental Stewardship. 

The Theme for the competiton was Enivironmental Stewardship .The student-teachers presented a teaching aid integrated with an interactive assessment model of Water Cycle and the pollutants encounterd by earth's natural water at each stage of the water cycle. The model was made from ecofriendly material and presented the scope for being utlised as a teaching aid for interacting with the students.

Ms. Vijol Rodrigues, Ms. Bliss Dsouza and Ms. Anciya Colaco presented a poster on "Triple A  and the power of STEAM" (Science, Technology,  Engineering and Mathematics at the HBCSE-TIFR, Mankhurd, Mumbai on the occassion of National Science Day on 28th February 2025.

Pushpanjali College of Education participated in the National Science Day Competition 2025 held on 28th February 2025 at HBCSE-TIFR, Mankhurd, Mumbai and presented a poster on "Triple A and the power of STEAM". The poster highlighted Assessment for learning, Assessment as learning and Assessment of learning, along with innovative assessment practices such as KWL charts, performance-based activities, peer ans self-assessment, exit tickets etc.

The students shared their experience on integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) through creative ideas involving 3D geometry, symmetry, Warli Art and Kaleidoscopes. The participation provided students with an oppportunity to showcase innovative pedagogical practices and reinforced the importance of experiential, creative, interdisciplinary and learner centered assessment.
