Four Key Pillars
Dr. Jeffrey Buck, Dean
College of Business and Information Technology
Our strategic focus is centered around four key pillars that align with the Purdue Portfolio. Through these strategic focuses, we aim to provide a meaningful educational experience for all stakeholders involved.
We prioritize Reputation, and recognize the importance of maintaining a strong standing in the academic community and beyond. Collaboration is crucial, as we foster partnerships and alliances that enhance our collective potential and promote innovation.
We are committed to Student Results and Support, ensuring that every student receives the guidance and resources they need to excel.
Program accessibility and Relevance are fundamental, enabling us to reach diverse audiences and offer education that aligns with current and future needs.
We emphasize Differentiation and Social Responsibility, striving to be distinctive in our offerings while remaining mindful of our impact on society and the environment.

Meet Jennifer Tutor: Empowering First-Term Students Through Supportive Instruction
Jennifer Tutor, an Adjunct Professor at Purdue University Global, has dedicated the past eighteen years to supporting new students as they begin their academic journey. As a member of the Early Engagement department, she plays a vital role in helping students acclimate to the expectations of higher education, especially within the context of their first courses. Currently teaching CS113: Academic Strategies for the Business Professional, Professor Tutor focuses on building foundational academic skills that support long-term success.
With a Master of Arts in Counseling from Southeastern Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University, Professor Tutor brings a strong academic and psychological background to her teaching. Her experience in bookkeeping and acquisitions gives her additional insight into the professional world, which she integrates into her instruction to make learning relevant and practical.
Professor Tutor’s passion for education is rooted in her love of learning. She discovered her niche while working with first-term students and found joy in helping them gain confidence, refine their academic skills, and clarify their career goals. Her approach to instruction is both supportive and empowering. She creates an environment that fosters trust and active participation by connecting with students early in the term through the seminar, discussions and shared experiences. She engages students by offering thoughtful questions that encourage reflection, responding promptly to inquiries, and offering individualized feedback that motivates ongoing improvement.
Her students regularly commend her dedication and communication. One student remarked on her ability to maintain clear expectations and provide timely, encouraging feedback. Another appreciated her enthusiastic presence during seminars and her commitment to regular communication, making online learning more accessible and personal.
Outside the classroom, Professor Tutor enjoys a vibrant and well-rounded life. Her interests include reading, hiking, attending live music events, and exploring new restaurants and coffee shops with her loved ones. These personal passions bring a sense of balance and joy, which she channels into her professional life, helping her remain energized and connected to her students.
Through her work at Purdue University Global, Jennifer Tutor continues to impact lives by equipping students with the skills and confidence they need to thrive academically and professionally.

Writing Across the Curriculum
Writing across the curriculum is an educational initiative that emphasizes the importance of writing as a fundamental skill for students across all disciplines, not just within English or composition courses. The core idea behind WAC is that writing is essential for academic success and critical thinking and therefore should be integrated into all areas of study.
Guide to reporting your PD
By Cathy Hochanadel
In order for you to remain current in your field, a minimum of 8 hours of Professional Development should be completed each fiscal year (July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025).
You can choose 8 hours of professional development to remain current in your field. Please try to focus primarily on your discipline for any outside conferences. Time spent on research (publishing) does not count toward professional development.
Please keep track of the date, session title, length and any other pertinent information. I recommend keeping proof of attendance for your own records.
Attendance at school and department meetings do not count toward PD hours.
Please visit the Center for Teaching and Learning site for many free PD opportunities.
Documenting your PD Hours:
CTL posts your PD entry for CTL-sponsored events on a monthly basis (possibly sooner). However, it is important that you verify this in APL. Click here for more information.
Please note that you can enter the activities directly in APL, or you can use the activity form provided by the CTL and they can enter it for you (strongly recommended).
If you do not use the activity form, please follow this guidance for self-reporting. These are the required elements for PD activities:
Purdue Global requires documentation of the following items for professional development activities:
Activity title
Accurate subtype selection
Correct academic year selection
Start and end dates
Number of hours
Description including details of the training and learning outcomes (if outcomes are not present for the activity, please include a personal reflection about how the activity has helped you strengthen your skillset or enhance your knowledge relative to the courses you teach or work you do at Purdue Global)
If you want to enter your own hours, please go to PG Campus and click on APL nextED under Documents & Forms.
Updates Coming to the PG Campus Main Menu Bar
On May 22, 2025, Purdue Global implemented changes to the main menu bar in PG Campus as the first phase of a yearlong initiative to improve content placement. The updates are intended to help students and faculty more easily find the information they need.
Purdue West Lafayette has developed a Generative AI Resource website that provides best practices, guidance, and a curated list of recommended AI tools for faculty and staff. Purdue Global has adopted both the guiding principles and the recommended tools. The AI tools are available for administrative use, personal use, and as optional tools for class activities or demonstrations. Including AI tools in required course activities must follow the PG AI Policy and the Third-Party Tools approval process. The use of AI tools is optional for faculty and staff. AI should enhance, not replace, employees’ work.
Faculty can demonstrate the appropriate, acceptable use of AI tools as outlined in the PG AI Policy when working with students. The policy permits students to use AI tools to assist with basic proofreading (spelling/grammar checks) and pre-writing strategies/brainstorming. Please review the PG AI Policy for more information about acceptable use.
