Four Key Pillars
Dr. Jeffrey Buck, Dean
College of Business and Information Technology
Our strategic focus is centered around four key pillars that align with the Purdue Portfolio. Through these strategic focuses, we aim to provide a meaningful educational experience for all stakeholders involved.
We prioritize Reputation, and recognize the importance of maintaining a strong standing in the academic community and beyond. Collaboration is crucial, as we foster partnerships and alliances that enhance our collective potential and promote innovation.
We are committed to Student Results and Support, ensuring that every student receives the guidance and resources they need to excel.
Program accessibility and Relevance are fundamental, enabling us to reach diverse audiences and offer education that aligns with current and future needs.
We emphasize Differentiation and Social Responsibility, striving to be distinctive in our offerings while remaining mindful of our impact on society and the environment.

Message from the SBIT Communications Steering Committee:
Dear Colleagues,
We hope you find the SBIT resources including the SBIT Faculty Newsletter and Website, the SBIT BITS newsletter for students, and the Quarterly Meetings supportive of the incredible work you do here at PG.
Perhaps you’ve thought it would be helpful if you could connect with other faculty through casual conversation, just like you would on a ground campus, whether it be in the hallways, watercooler or office space. Now you can, because we have an opportunity to make that happen!
Starting March 21, 2025, the PG Café will host the “SBIT Coffee Break” for a virtual chat on the 3rd Friday of each month at 11:00am ET for one hour. We will use Google Meet (not recorded) and will provide you with a meeting invite and link that will be posted in the Faculty Newsletter. All faculty are welcome to join and participate.
Our first meeting will be introduced by our café manager, Emilie Myer, and the featured hosts will be full-time faculty members Dr. Blake Escudier, Dr. Marty McDermott and Professor Mimi Gough. We will be facilitating an informal discussion to get to know each other and hope to learn more about your involvement in various areas such as academics, industry and community.
We hope you will come ready with your morning beverage of choice. We look forward to “seeing” you there!
Introducing: Purdue Global Cafe' (PG Cafe')
Socialization is a process by which individuals acquire and share culture. The definition of faculty refers to a body of researchers, scholars, and lecturers organized by fields of study. The culture of a faculty is derived through a socialization process by which individuals learn to conform to the norms of the group.
The use of asynchronous communication is not the same as synchronous in developing dialogue and connections. As an online school, Purdue Global lacks a social connecting point between Faculty. Ground based schools have physical meeting areas where Faculty may interact, offering a different type of social dynamic. At PG we can't just walk out into the quad and talk with each other. We can't run into each other at the Campus Coffee shop.
Socialization is a never-ending process and is continuously active. There will be many occasions where we change our membership groups, or we may migrate to a new cultural group. At these points we need to learn how to re-socialize our thought process and behavior to accommodate association with new the new group.
The PG Café will be an online meeting place. Google Meet will be used, and each program sponsored by PG Café will include a Café Manager and featured hosts.
The official PG Café Schedule will be posted monthly in the SBIT Faculty News with the access link.

Professional Expertise
With over a decade of experience in occupational health, I have successfully managed multiple occupational clinics, significantly improved workplace safety, and reduced injury rates by 50%. My leadership in data analytics has enhanced data collection and compliance by 25% at the state level, while my strategic initiatives have led to an 80% reduction in open investigations within six months. Additionally, I have overseen federally funded grants, ensuring all deliverables were met effectively. My expertise allows me to bridge the gap between education and real-world application, benefiting students, colleagues, and stakeholders alike.
Teaching Philosophy
Higher education is an evolving landscape that requires educators to be adaptable, innovative, and student-centered. My teaching philosophy is rooted in fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment that accommodates diverse learning styles.
My journey as an educator began in EMS, where I trained new EMT students and educated the public on healthcare best practices. Over the past 15 years, I have taught CPR to children, healthcare providers, and community members. As my career progressed, I transitioned into leadership roles, training new employees, developing educational materials, and providing constructive feedback. These experiences have shaped my approach to teaching, ensuring that every student, whether in traditional or online learning environments, receives the support and engagement they need to succeed.
As a servant leader, I am committed to professionalism, respect, and objectivity. I create a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging in discussions. Effective communication is essential to student success, and I strive to provide timely feedback, returning graded assignments within 24 hours whenever possible. Staying informed and current with best practices ensures that my students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for their future careers.
Personal Background
Born and raised in Georgia, I continue to reside there with my husband and two children—a 19-year-old daughter and a 17-year-old son. My passion for education extends beyond the classroom, as I frequently volunteer in my community. I teach CPR and babysitting skills to children on weekends and volunteer twice a year at a local high school, providing CPR, First Aid, and AED training to early childhood education students. Additionally, I serve as a chair and panel member on several federal grant committees.
My personal experiences have deeply influenced my career path. After losing my mother at 18, I pursued EMS as a way to make a difference. In my first five years, I transported both of my grandparents, who later passed away from cancer. After a decade in EMS, a major injury shifted my path, leading me to pursue a doctoral degree. Coming from a modest background, I was determined to turn challenges into opportunities. My passion for data, research, and education drives me to give back to my students, guiding them through their academic and professional journeys.
