Pre-Session Student Teaching is a 3-week (15-day) experience that gives the credential candidate exposure to beginning-of-the-year preparation. It is only offered at the beginning of the K-12 school year (August through September) before PUC begins regular Fall classes.

Prerequisites to Participate in Pre-session

1. Regular program admission

2. Successful completion of at least one methods course

• EDUC 493- Beginning Reading

• EDUC 493 - Elementary Math

• EDUC 494 - Middle School

• EDUC 494 - High School

• EDUC 358 - Literacy 

3. Cumulative GPA of at least 2.75

4. Participation in Orientation Session as scheduled

5. Verification of phone interview with school site and cooperating teacher

All students applying for Pre-Session Student Teaching must schedule a meeting with the Education Department’s Credential Analyst to determine eligiblity status and obtain a signed form verifying approval for participation.
