In-Service Student Teaching takes place when a candidate completes the student teaching component of the credential program while employed on a full-time teaching contract in a K-12 classroom. In-Service Student Teaching will be granted to a limited number of eligible, highly qualified, mature, and experienced individuals who have prearranged in-service student teaching with the department.
The employment contract must be at the level of the desired credential.
In-service student teachers are expected to meet all the requirements of regular student teaching, including participation in the orientation session, daily and long-term lesson planning, daily journaling, weekly conferencing with the on-site mentor and principal, and weekly conferencing with the college supervisor.
The in-service student teacher is expected to complete all the concurrent student teaching seminar requirements.
The in-service student teaching experience is for the same length of time as regularly scheduled student teaching.
There are some slight adjustments to what is expected during pre-session when you are participating in inservice student teaching. Please use this form to make sure you have all the necessary components to complete pre-session.
