1. Complete the Initial Application

2. Meet with the Credential Analyst to review and confirm eligibility.

3. Meet with the Director of Field Experience after eligibility for Full-Time Student Teaching has been confirmed by the Credential Analyst

Before beginning the student teaching experience, all candidates must have regular admission status in the Teacher Education Program and meet the following requirements:

General Requirements (All Candidates)

• Regular Admission Status in the Teacher Education Program

• Cumulative GPA: Minimum of 2.75 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (M.A.T.)

• Subject Matter Competency: Met by one of the following:

  • Approved subject matter degree

  • Passing CSET scores

  • Completion of a CTC-approved subject matter program

• EDUC 339 – ELL Pedagogy

• EDUC 340 – Exceptional Children in the Classroom

• EDUC 491 – Student Teaching Seminar (TPA Cycle 1)

• Successful completion of Pre-Session Student Teaching

• Verification of a Negative TB Test (if the current test on file is more than two years old)

Elementary Candidates

• EDUC 345 – Elementary Math Methods and EDUC 493/345L – Math Field Experience

• Department Review #1 approval following Math Field Experience

• EDUC 353 – Teaching English Language Arts I and EDUC 493/353L – Beginning Reading Field Experience

• Department Review #2 approval following the Beginning Reading Field Experience

• EDUC 356 – Teaching English Language Arts II

• EDUC 358 – Literacy in the Content Areas

• EDUC 361 – Middle School Teaching Strategies and EDUC 494/361L – Middle School Field Experience

• Department Review #1 approval following Middle School Field Experience

• EDUC 362 – Secondary Content Area Teaching Strategies and EDUC 494/362L – High School Field Experience

• Department Review #2 approval following High School Field Experience
