EDUC 101 is the first class that you will take on your journey to getting your teaching credential. This course is a prerequisite to be admitted into the credential program and our method courses.

This course is a 25-hour classroom observation experience that provides practical insights into classroom teaching. These documents will be printed for you but you may also access them here if you need to.

If you have experience working with children, up to 10 points may be earned for the class. Points will be awarded based on type and length of experience. Submit the form to the instructor if you meet the following criteria:

1. The experience is less than one school year in length.

2. It involves working with children K-12.

3. It may include working at summer camp, helping with Pathfinders or Boy/Girl Scouts, tutoring a child one-on-one, or some type of short-term experience in the classroom.

4. Babysitting, being a nanny, or working in Sabbath/Sunday School does not count.

EDUC 101L-Classroom Observations may be waived based on classroom experience if ALL of the requirements listed below are met and approved by the instructor:

1. The experience must have been at least 25 hours in length.

2. The experience must have taken place in a preschool, elementary school, middle school, or high school.

3. The experience must have taken place during regular school hours, not after school.

4. The experience must have involved actual interaction with students (not just observation, grading papers, etc.)

5. The experience cannot have been in a classroom of peers.
