After 4 years, we finally had a "normal' start to the school year and had a whole year without climate or COVID interruptions.
What we did have to contend with, was another year of rapid change, this time caused by the priorities of a new government.
At Pt England we have not wasted any time contending against the changes and have used our time to best ability to ensure we are ready and able to deliver against what we are being asked. Our staff have worked very hard, like all schools, have found some of this challenging at times, but we can say with some pride; "we are ready and able".
The major changes or developments are:
changes to mathematics and literacy/English
changes to the mandatory length of time spent on core subjects
changes to attendance monitoring and priorities
changes to the school lunch system
I'm proud of the way our team has handled this preparation and implementation, and very grateful to our Board for the support we have received.
I'm grateful as well, to Manaiakalani Education Trust and profoundly thankful that unlike some other PLD organisations we have not had to let staff go or reduce our delivery. This has been of enormous help to our school and to the Manaiakalani Network Schools across these motu.
The movie below is a great statement of hope and displays the attitude of our school and community.
