After students begin their Top Hat Test, monitor their activity by opening the Proctor Report. This report can be accessed after the test has concluded as well.
1. Begin monitoring the test by selecting the “Proctor Report” link in the top right of the Top Hat Test or choosing “View proctor report” in the Test Code pop-up menu.
2. Check to see what you are projecting on screen and then interact with the “Please note” pop-up. Select “Yes, show student info” from the menu in order to access the Proctor Report.
It is recommended that you do not share this report with students and make sure you have blacked out the screen while monitoring student progress.
3. The roster of students will appear on the Proctor Report, showing a few columns.
First and Last Names - This will show the names of each student on your Top Hat course roster. You may sort students using the up and down arrow icons beside these titles.
Irregular Behaviour - Student activity outside of the parameters you set up in the Test settings will be reported here. This column will default to “No irregular behaviour” and change to “[#] case(s) found” when something irregular has occurred.
Status - This will indicate where students are in their completion of the test to monitor how many have started and finished taking the test.
4. As students are working, watch the “Irregular Behaviour” column for any changes that occur. As cases are found, select the link beside the red circle that says “[#] case(s) found” to view the irregular activity that was detected.
Read the activity log and have a conversation with the student about what happened while taking their test.
Based on your assessment of that activity, you may readmit students to their individual test by selecting the “Unlock” button in this pop-up menu. Students will be locked out of their test until you unlock it for them again.
5. You may lock or unlock tests en masse by selecting the checkboxes next to each student’s name.
Choose the “Unlock Selected” button that appears to readmit multiple students to the test.
Choose the “Lock Selected” button that appears to stop student progress and address any irregular activity occurring outside of the online testing environment.
6. When the Test is finished, close the Proctor Report tab. Remember to select the “End Test” button when the testing session is over.
