1. Select "Click on Target" from the list of question types in the first column.
2. Add a title to your question in the "Title" field. This will help you find your question later. This is required in this question type.
3. Type the prompt for your Click on Target question in the "Question" field. This prompt should indicate what students need to click within the image you will be uploading in the next step.
4. Upload the image that you would like students to interact with by clicking the blue "Upload Image" button. Choose your image from your computer.
5. After uploading your image, type the number of attempts you would like students to have in the "Attempts" field.
This number specifies the number of times students can click on the image and should be greater than 0.
6. Select the area of the image that you would like students to indicate by clicking on the image in that location.
You can move this area by selecting on the blue circle and dragging it to the location you want.
Adjust the size of your area selecting by clicking on the small white circles around the circumference of the selection area and dragging your cursor to the size you want.
Remove this area selection by choosing the x to the bottom right of your blue area selection circle.
Provide extra attempts by editing the number beside the "Extra Attempts" field.
This number gives students the opportunity to click on the image additional times beyond the "Attempts" in the previous step. This number can be 0 if you want to give only one total attempt.
Remove your uploaded image and choose another by selecting the words "Replace Image" below your current image and above the "Attempts"/"Extra Attempts" fields.
7. Scroll down and edit your "Response Options" as desired. A breakdown of each option is listed below.
Checking the "Group question" box allows you to collect responses from groups of students. You will need to set up you groups in the "Students" tab in order to use this feature.
Check the "Anonymous" box allows students to give their answers without revealing their identity.
You cannot edit this after the question is created. This will not allow you to assign a grade for this question either.
8. Edit your "Grading Options" to reflect your desired scoring system in "Correctness" and "Participation".
"Correctness" cannot be edited if a number of "Attempts" and an area selection has not been made.
9. Scroll down to add a timer to student answers in the "Response Timer" section. You are able to change the amount of time students have to answer the question. At the end of the timer, the question will automatically close.
10. Access your "Review Options" to provide your students with feedback after they answer the question. A breakdown of each option is listed below.
Hints and Explanations only show up when a question is assigned to review or when feedback is enabled in homework.
Select the "Add a hint for incorrect response" to provide feedback to students about this question if they get it wrong.
Select "Add an explanation for correct response" to provide follow-up information if your students get the question correct.
11. Click "Save" in the bottom right corner to save your question. You may cancel creating a question at any time by choosing "Cancel" or pressing your Esc key on your computer.
12. Drag your question into the folder that you want the question to appear in.
You may now Preview, Edit, or Delete your question as needed in Top Hat.
