Use the instructions below to begin developing questions from scratch in a Top Hat Test. You may also want Top Hat to transition your currently created quizzes and tests using the Top Hat Concierge Service.
1. After selecting the “Create Test” button, you will be redirected to start building your test questions. However, if you have closed the editing screen or need to re-enter it, you can do so by selecting the test name and the “Edit” link in the top right.
2. Choose the pencil icon in the “Text Instruction” section to add directions to the top of your test. This is recommended even if the instructions appear in Canvas as students may not have the ability to review those instructions based on the Monitoring settings you selected.
3. Add questions using the options on the left hand side. View the different question types and how to create them under the Creating Polling Questions section of this website.
New Question: Use this option to develop new questions that have not previously appeared in your course.
From Course: Use this option if you want to pull in questions that you have used in different assignments or polls in your Top Hat section.
From Test Bank: Use this option if you have already created a Test Bank in your course.
4. Add instructions for subsections of your test using the Add Instructions option.
5. Check the box in the top right corner of the editing screen to “Randomize question order” if you choose to do so.
6. Select the blue “Save” button in the top right corner when you are finished.
