Watch the video below to learn how to upload your slides to Top Hat for use in class. Written step-by-step instructions are listed below as well.
1. After accessing your course, make sure you are on the "Content" tab from the options along the top.
2. Choose the blue “Create” button in the top left corner of the page. This will open your content options.
3. It is recommended that you start by creating a folder for your presentation to keep things organized. This could be a part of a larger module folder instead.
Select the “Folder” icon at the bottom of the first column if you wish to create a new folder.
Name your folder and choose “Create Folder” in the bottom right corner of the menu.
After creating your folder, it will appear in your list of items on the left-hand side of your course’s page.
4. Select the “Create” button again.
5. Choose the “Upload Slides” option from the second column to add a presentation that you have already created.
6. Drag and drop slides on the new screen that popped up.
You can also “click to browse your computer” to search for the presentation from your files.
You should upload either Powerpoint or PDF files.
7. Your presentation should now appear in Top Hat. If it did not organize into your folder appropriately, you can drag the presentation into your folder.
8. Each slide will come in as an individual slide, meaning you can add questions after each one.
If you wish to add questions to engage your students in lecture, select the slide you want to edit from the list on the left of the screen in Top Hat.
You may also drag and drop questions that you have already created into the presentation.
Follow the instructions on the Creating Polling Questions page of this site to learn more about adding questions to your presentation.
9. While previewing your presentation, you can allow students to download the presentation by checking the “Allow students to download slides” box in the top right corner.
10. After you have completed your questions, visit the Presenting from Top Hat page to learn how Top Hat presentations function.
