It is recommended that instructors give a low stakes Top Hat Test as a practice session to students prior to a larger stakes assessment. This allows students to get accustomed to the interface and ask any questions they may have about the software.
1. On test day, select Top Hat Test and choose the blue “Start Test” button in the top right corner.
2. Share the randomly generated Test Code with students so that they can enter the test. This will be a chain of five random letters and numbers which will be regenerated each time “Start Test” is selected.
3. You may hide the Test Code by selecting “Minimize” from the pop-up screen.
4. It is highly recommended that instructors open the Proctor Report, which can be found on the Test Code pop-up screen by choosing the “View proctor report” option or in the top right corner of the Top Hat Test screen if “Minimize” was chosen.
5. Allow students to take their test for the duration of the testing session.
Review the Top Hat Test Proctor Report page to learn how to navigate this interface.
6. When finished with the testing session, select the blue “End Test” button in the top right corner of the Top Hat Test screen.
