Nicholas Kolo is a science teacher at Plainfield High School - Central Campus. Nicholas has five years of experience in the classroom, and he has spent the last two years serving the students and staff of Plainfield School District 202. Throughout his teaching career, he has taught a diverse range of subjects, including Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Earth Science, Biology, and Physical Science.
Nicholas brings an exceptionally rigorous academic background to his coaching role. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from DePaul University and a Master of Education in Secondary Education from Lewis University. Additionally, he holds a Doctorate of Pharmacy from Midwestern University, a degree that provides him with a unique analytical perspective on both complex science and educational pedagogy.
A leader within his building, Nicholas serves as a Physical Science PLC representative. He has also spearheaded professional development sessions focused on the safe and proper implementation of Artificial Intelligence. His goal in these sessions is to help educators leverage AI to streamline tedious administrative tasks, which allows teachers to reclaim more time for direct student engagement.
Nicholas’s primary mission as an instructional technology coach is to bridge the gap between the rapidly evolving world of technology and the practical realities of the classroom. Recognizing that teachers are often short on time, he strives to be a curated resource that filters the tech landscape into actionable tips and advice. He is particularly passionate about using digital tools, such as infographics, video, and audio reviews, to bridge educational gaps and reach a wide variety of learners.
