Kathryn (Kacey) Helland is a Spanish teacher and Instructional Technology Coach at Plainfield South High School who specializes in helping educators use technology to create engaging, meaningful learning experiences. With more than 12 years of teaching experience in the United States and abroad, she combines classroom expertise with a passion for innovation, supporting teachers in integrating digital tools and generative AI in ways that enhance instruction while keeping student learning at the center.
She has served on numerous district leadership teams, including the School Improvement Team for Instructional Best Practices, the District Digital Literacy and Digital Citizenship Teams, the District Subject Curriculum Committee, the "Profile of a Graduate" Committee, and the district's Generative AI Team, where she helped develop PSD202's Guiding Principles for the responsible use of AI in education. She also serves as a building mentor teacher and sponsors both the Spanish Honor Society and Spanish Club.
Kacey earned bachelor's degrees in Secondary Education and Spanish from Loyola University, a Master of Arts in Spanish from the Universidad de Granada in Spain, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership with a Principal Endorsement from Lewis University. She is passionate about empowering educators to embrace emerging technologies with confidence, creativity, and purpose.
