In this section we will cover everything you can do at home to have a little fun with the family. So that includes everything from cooking to the latest videos/games to check out.
So for all you brunch lovers out there who think breakfast is the best meal of the day, I got a special treat for you guys to try in your kitchen in a simple recipe. Let me introduce you to the German Pancake or what I like to call the Dutch Baby!
Ingredients:
3 Eggs
1/2 Cup of Flour
1/2 Cup of Milk
1 Tablespoon of Sugar
4 Tablespoons of Unsalted Butter
To start, preheat the oven to 425°F. While the oven is preheating, add the eggs, flour, milk and sugar into a bowl and whisk thoroughly. Keep mixing until it is smooth. You may also add additional ingredients like a pinch of cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, or other spices of your choice to add flavor.
Once the oven is hot, put your skillet or baking dish (10 inches) in the oven so it is hot when you add your batter. When the oven has reached 425°, add the butter into the skillet/dish to melt and coat the surface to prevent sticking. Once the butter has fully melted, carefully add your batter into the skillet/dish and place in the oven for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, check on the dutch baby, make sure it is golden, and lower the temperature to 300° to bake for an additional 5 minutes.
After the 5 minutes of baking is done, take the Dutch Baby out of the oven and serve accordingly. Additional toppings you can add to it are powdered sugar, syrup, fruits (berries). It works well with a number of sides.
This recipe will make enough for 2 or 3 people.
Here is also a video of me and my wife making it for a visual reference, if it helps!
Hope those of you who tried it out, enjoyed it!
For this week, I wanted to find a unique and fun way for people to stay active and have fun. While we are all staying inside, it is good for us to take some time to stay physically fit since we are not moving around as much as we would outside. So, let me introduce you to a fun and flexible work-out routine! All you need is a deck of cards! I personally call this exercise: The Deck.
So, in your deck, you have 4 suits of cards: hearts, spades, diamonds, and clubs. For each suit of card, assign a type of workout or exercise.
For example, what I would like to do is this:
Hearts - Push Ups
Spades - Jumping Jacks
Diamonds - Sit Ups
Clubs - Squats
The nice thing about doing this exercise is that you can change it to what is more in your comfort zone, so feel free to experiment with different activities for each card.
The next step is to shuffle the deck and draw the card from the top. The cards value tells you how many reps you need to do before moving onto the next exercise. (For example, if I draw the 7 of Diamonds, I need to do 7 sit ups before I can draw the next card!) As to what the Aces, Jacks, Queens and Kings are, I simply value them as:
Aces - 1
Jacks - 11
Queens - 12
Kings - 13
A Joker can be a wild card of your choice. (Maybe a treat!)
Another way you can make this flexible is by changing how you do the exercise. You can do this as a group, taking turns doing a card each, you can challenge yourself to go through the whole deck without giving up (good luck it is not easy), or you can play games and make The Deck a penalty for the loser every time they lose a round of Uno. The possibilities are endless and are in your hands!
