One day summer activities!
If you are ever having a bland day in summer, or just need something to do for even just a day? This is your guide.
Oregon zoo
If you've lived in Portland for even just a few months you've probably heard of the Oregon zoo. Even though it is popular it's worth a mention.
The Oregon zoo has many animals including, giraffes, elephants, red pandas, otters, and polar bears. They also have many restaurants located around the zoo. The harbor seals are always playful and curious. You can also take a ride on the zoo train. 9.5/10
2. The Enchanted Forest
The Enchanted Forest is a theme park attraction with a fairy tale theme. As soon as you enter it feels like stepping into a Disney movie. Each element of the park is either based of a fairy tale or has a fantastical theme. Although it is not a classic theme park, (where the only attractions are rides) it is one of my personal favorite places to go. Solid 10/10.
3. Oaks Amusement Park
Controversially to the last attraction, is a well known Portland theme park. Oaks Park is great for people of all ages and scare preferences. They have everything from a rocking boat ride to roller coasters. Many big-shot amusement parks go for all the huge, colorful, and looming roller coasters. As well as impressive roller coasters, Oaks Park has all the classics, bumper cars, The Scrambler, and the Spider. 11/10
4. Oregon Coast
The Oregon Coast is a very popular tourist destination, with its crashing waves and charming seaside towns. Maybe you are a fan of big crowds, but if you aren't, going on a free weekday is highly recommended. It is very windy on most days so you should bring a collapse-able tent or some beach towel weights. Cannon Beach is probably one of the most popular beaches but all of them are a hit. Make sure to visit the restaurants and shops in town. 8.5/10
5. Backyard Camping
If you want a low budget, low hassle, way to go camping with your friends, this is for you. All you need is a camping tent, a backyard, and a little time. Backyard camping is really great because you get all the fun of camping, without having to book a camping lot at 1 am on New Years. You also get the bonus of plumbing and showers. Another bonus is that you can camp as long as you want! 9/10
