Introduction of Online Classes

Deering offers classes online. These classes are not listed in the student handbook or school directory because they require administrator, guidance, case manager and parent approval. There is a process to getting enrolled and they are not for everyone. Some kids struggle with online learning. These courses are generally independent and require MORE work than a regular class. 

Pros to online learning:

• Online anytime - anywhere

• Work and take a break when you want

• No daily attendance

• Self-paced; work as much as you want

• You can make up a class and skip summer school.

Cons to online Learning:

• No student interaction

• Longer and more content then most regular ed classes

• They are not "easy" to complete

• There is limited curriculum modifications

• No to few games, fun or interaction. 

How do I get my user name and password?

You must see your case manager or guidance counselor for your login credentials.

Why can't I take an assessment?

Many assessments must be taken at school or with a teacher present. 

How long does it take to complete a course? 

It depends on how much of the material you know, your stamina, determination and timeframe. Most kids complete a course in a couple months.
