The guide is designed to assist students with understanding the NCAA, NCAA Eligibility Center registration and academic requirements, and how your student-athletes work toward their collegiate dreams. NCAA Divisions I and II voted to change the NCAA core-course legislation. There is no longer a separate set of requirements for nontraditional courses. The updated requirements are effective for core-course reviews occurring on or after Aug. 1, 2024.
NCAA core-course legislation should align with current secondary education practices, which have experienced significant shifts in recent years. Modernizing the requirements to encompass all instructional delivery models and eliminating the legislative distinction for nontraditional courses aligns with this shift.
Have graduating student-athletes who are being recruited by an NCAA Division I or II school? They must request their final amateurism certification from the NCAA Eligibility Center before they can be eligible to practice, compete and receive athletics aid in college.
