Pitman Public Schools Digital Badge Program

A digital badge is an online credential that serves as validation for completion of professional development, recognition of service, or qualifications. The flyer on the left shows how we will use the digital badging program at Pitman.

Types of Badges:

Technology Skill Badge- This type of badge is awarded to the individual who has learned and applied a specified technology skill in their classroom. Examples: Padlet, Quizlet

District or School Recognition Badge- This badge is handed out by the school or district to the employee that goes above and beyond or has received specific awards. Example: Teacher of the Year

Professional Development Badge- The professional development badge is given when you attend an out-of-district professional development or during non-contracted time. Example: Washington Township Edcamp. Also, approved coursework, like from Coursera and edX count towards badges and points.

PLC Badge- This badge is earned by participating in an approved professional learning community. You can earn this badge year-after-year by participating in a new PLC.

PD Leader Badge- Given to those who have presented a professional development session during one of our in-service days. Example: PD leader at Pitman Schools

Teaching and Learning Badge- This badge is given to those individuals that use new and innovative strategies (learned at Pitman or outside the district) in their lessons. Examples: Flipped Classroom, Student-Centered Instructor

Book Study- Participating in an approved Book Study/Club will earn you a 10 point badge.

Pitman Coursework Badge- Given to those individuals who have completed one of the nine technology courses. Example: Google Certified Educator, Blended Learning

All of the badges that you can earn are available on the Pitman Credly Page To earn a badge, you must log in and submit the required evidence. Once the required documentation has been approved, you will be emailed a claim code. Put in your claim code receive that badge. All other badges, the ones that are not claimable, will be sent directly to the individual.

To earn your comp time for the May Professional Development Day, you must earn all of the required badges and points. Also, all badges must be earned during the 2019-2020 school year.

Types of Badges and Point Totals

Credly

Credly is the platform that Pitman Public Schools will use for the badging program. To create an account with Credly, follow these steps.

  1. Go to the Pitman Credly Portal.

  2. Click on "Sign Up" at the right of the screen.

  3. Create your account- Make sure you sign up as an individual.

  4. If you don't see the badges, go to search member and search for Pitman Public Schools. It is the one with the Panther logo next to it.

Your account will allow you to view all badges, see which ones you can claim, track your earned badges, and submit all evidence.
