Work and Relaxation
HP Luster Photo Paper
15in x 24in
I created my work thinking about my contrasting behaviors of work and relaxation. I am usually focused on constructing teaching materials or working on engineering projects but during my off time I am a completely different person. I included images on my relaxed right hand like the youtube logo, a bed, and a nintendo switch because at home I often sequester myself to playing games and watching youtube in bed. I decided to make the dimension of my work larger than a standard 8.5x11 inch piece of paper because this work represents me and my vocal personality. While making this work I used the opacity adjustment tool in photoshop the most to show the wrinkles and nails of my hands. I wanted my audience to feel the conflict of contrasting behaviors.

What is a critique? After a work of art is completed it is customary, as a final step, to display it and have people look at it and discuss it’s merits. When friends, peers, teachers, or strangers in an art gallery have a discussion about your art it is called a critique. Critiques can be verbal or written.
Why have an art critique? Many times when a person works closely on a piece they do not see it objectively. When people who have not seen the work before view it new insights and information may be discovered.
In the critique of other students and yourself I am looking for…
Kindness | Specific Language | Helpfulness
Self Critique
1. Make a positive comment about your work; be specific about what you like.
2. Make an observation for improving the artwork; be specific about how to make it better.
(Word your comments so they are helpful and productive, not hurtful)
